Good morning Perky Pelicans, yippie it's Friday!
Today's National days are:
- Bat appreciation day
- International Haiku Poetry
day
- Cheeseball day
- Kickball day
- Blue & green day
- The day of silence
Bat appreciation day? YUK!!Bats, surprisingly, can be beneficial. Google some bat facts and see how they can be helpful to us.
What is a Haiku?
"Haiku" is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme.
Here's a Haiku to help you remember:
I am first with five
Then seven in the middle --
Five again to end
This is a tuff one, but give it a try. If nothing else work on rhyming words that tell a story.
Do you have Cheeseballs at your house? If you do, have some with lunch today.
Go outside with your stay home crew and play kick ball. Set up bases, separate into teams and have fun. Remember if you keep score, someone will win the game and someone will lose. Be a good sport and congratulate the winners. Chin up never give up! Is our Perky Pelican moto.
Play a game of I spy using the colors green and blue.
What's green and blue in the room?
Color or paint a picture using green and blue only
Or go outside and draw a picture on the sidewalk using green and blue chalk only.
This one will be a bit of a challenge ... sit silently for 5 minutes. Can you do it? That's a kindergarten time out. Did it feel very long? Can you go longer?
Play the quiet game with your stay at home crew or your siblings. Who ever wins gets the prize ...
Cheeseballs for supper!!!
Have fun today with your babies and each other. Have a dance party, a play, watch a very old Disney movie. Enjoy your weekend.
If you need a parent teacher conference, please do not hesitate to contact me. Send me a message and I will send you my phone number. Parents remember to use that pelican drop as a gentle reminder. They respond to that well, and set up a behavior chart.(I will post a copy of one here Monday) Mark it daily with a green, yellow or red indicating the days behavior. Rewards daily or weekly help. Maybe a ride to sonic for a malt will encourage green behavior. I know it's a good incentive for me.
I hope all is well with each and every one of you. My stay home crew is doing well, but I am so very anxious to get back in the classroom with your babies. I miss them painfully.
Till we meet again,
Ms. Charlotte
